@itspaulagorman: The rise of the independent consultant and fractional leader is here. But to be successful you must be able to answer the question “what are you an expert at?” Because consulting is about deep expertise and leverage. There are different expectations for us than full time employees. #consulting #fractionalleadership #consultant #independentconsultant
I was just headhunted for essentially this exact role, fractional leader/consultant in a very niche lending industry that I happen to be an expert in. Let’s go!

I love the premise but this assumes the client knows what their problem actually is. I’ve been in consulting for over 15 years and some clients haven’t been honest with themselves and others aren’t ready for the real transformational work needed to overcome their obstacles.

I'm hired for breadth more than depth... but in my niche, my breadth is my depth. I connect the dots and understand dependencies and sequence.

I’m a therapist wanting to get into consulting and my expertise is in people-pleasing, helping women learn to use their voice & be more authentic. I’ve been trying to figure out how to articulate that for a corporate space

Yes. If you are not able to provide clarity to a question, why exactly are they consulting you?! the people who are able to differentiate between the Consultants with depths and breadth and rely more on those with depth make the best decisions and get the best ROIs.
