They buy 6000 ceiling fans. Let’s say their cost is $27 a unit. Their cost on the entire shipment is $162,000. They sell in the store for $99. After they sell 1637 of them at $99, the the other 4063 are free! Let’s say their my sell another 2000 at $99. They’ve made nearly $200k profit on the shipment and they STILL HAVE over $2000! You think it hurts Home Depot to sell some for a penny?

I use to work for HD and I bought penny items myself. You're right, they should have been removed. These are discontinued items.

I mean, I kinda get it. If that is happening due to employees not getting these items off the shelves quick enough, it reflects poorly on them and their job performance, which could possibly lead to job loss.
