I appreciate the series, but tiny addition about the environment. So while the amount of water is not equal to that of the Ag industry, it’s impacts are worse. It is making that water completely unable to be recycled and reused, but even if it were to maintain the quality of the water through different processes and uninhibited from going back through its water cycle, it’s still displacing those gallons from the communities they came from. Water also isn’t the only environment impact it has. And, ultimately, while we do need to eat, we don’t need to use AI. 😁

the difference between water waste from red meat vs AI is you can recycle the water from red meat, you can't with AI. That's the problem, it's not just using the water, it's polluting it in a way that we can't clean it of and that's going into our water cycle

AI's effects on the environment are very dreadful. That said, the results you get from AI are only as good as the users. At the end of the day, AI is only a tool and not a replacement.

the issue w water usage is that we are STILL using the water from everything else on top of the data centres. the red meat example may be using more water than ai, but it didnt slow down to make room for ai to use it or anything
