I’m deaf in one ear and my son has also experienced sudden hearing loss (last month at 15). I have been so reluctant to learn ASL but it’s clearly time. I’m so worried it won’t stick.

hello, dear 👋. so let u know I'm a sagacious deaf man na am from South Africa. na I learned ASL sign before but I haven't finished learning different country. na I got my time to learn more which sign language did we have. dat is what I trying to do my better. na I want u to be my pal to teach me more,more ASL dat ever u learned enough.pls make sure send me a request pal na we can continue to chatting cuz I fondness ur sign.

We are a hearing family and very beginner still. I’m still learning how to read signs while making eye contact. 😭 Ive tried to learn ASL so many times, but was struggling with grasping new languages. When we had our son, we began teaching him proper ASL to allow him to communicate earlier and it helped me as well. Now he is 3, so he and I have been learning together(my husband is trying his best to learn as well). Most of the community events for families are age restricted or private, so it’s been a little difficult to give him exposure beyond seeing videos of kids using ASL and interpreters on children’s shows.

its all i know, lip reading. ive been almost totally deaf my whole life. then someone gave me a hearing aids. I heard my dad's voice for the first time. im 50.
