It’s so odd because the banks negotiated so hard for the current defanged version of this bill and now what? They have buyers remorse? This bill keeps the banks in business. If they wait it could just be worse later. Maybe they think because Trump’s popularity is low the next president will be less Crypto friendly and they can stop stable coins.

It's helps someone outside the banking industry. It's really that simple. It's adds competition which they don't want. It's adds potential interest payments, which they don't want. Much easier to hold people's money and pay them 0.01% while making >3%.

I watched an interview with Jamie Dimon a while back. He was livid about the fact the government was thinking of pushing for a 10% interest ceiling on credit cards to help the American people from predatory interest rates.
