Worked for the first year of my sons life. It sucked. He is leaving for college in the Fall and his brother is a freshman in HS. I have no regrets of leaving my career as a teacher to stay home with them

Every generation gets better. My niece and her husband are lawyers. She had a baby and they know how bad day care can be. She is not working. I went back to work but I was so blessed I got to bring my children to work. Sacrifice for your children you will have no regret. After children if she chooses she can go back to work. Raising children is such a serious business!

Thank you for talking about this. I’m married, 27, thinking about babies, and don’t have my mom in my life. I have a career that I love and want to keep. Your words of encouragement are soooo comforting. 💖

I have 3 kids. I went back to work full time at 6 months with all of them. They are now 12,16,19. No regrets. I cooked dinner every night for them, weekends were filled with sports and trips and fun outings. I decorated for every holiday. Their at home daycare became their second home/ mom

When my babies were young, and I had to go back to work, I tried to make the little moments count. Watching them practice their sports, helping with homework, cooking dinner together, cleaning up together… bath time talks, bedtime stories, etc., these are the moments that really mattered to me!

I worked when my son was an infant but from home. Then I didn’t work again till my divorce his senior year. I’m now in my late 60’s and working more hours than ever because my x left us with nothing. Long story. Went through so many hard years but I know my son has seen a resilient mom that handled an awful lot the last 15 years since my divorce and I’m happy he has. I’m glad I stayed home w him when he was little but you are right it left me $$ vulnerable. It is such a difficult situation for so many moms. You have a great perspective I always love listening to your advice.

It was so rough, but if you find quality childcare it makes a world of a difference. My son had the most amazing caregivers from 3 months-5 years old!❤️

What was your career path? So interesting and incredible woman you are! A room of one’s own by Virginia wolf really helped me understand the gift of work.
