Biggest problem is that if everyone decides to not take juniors them in 5-10 years there will be no one to replace the senior that leavers

Big corporations used to be able to eat the cost to develop talent. I wouldnt expect a small firm to try. But now big corps want day one productivity. So no one is developing talent, and self learning creates bad habits, creates bad prospects, creates bad hire market. It’s why the job market is where it is now, no corp or business is choosing to develop talent so seekers feel lost and HR feels like no one is capable.

I mean yes that's the way it is in every industry. We all are new at some point.

This means that at the moment, recruiters are looking for junior developers but they lied as seniors or professionals in order to get the position. Because right now they are not looking for juniors, which means the junior will still junior without real experience until death.

And… who would do junior roles when they only hire people with experience?

Dice rolls can go both ways. I’m definitely seeing a compelling argument against taking another W-2 job. AI is making coding incredibly accessible, and it’s also enabling the creation of AI workflows and personalized solutions. This shift is causing many companies to abandon their SaaS subscription models as a viable business strategy.

No matter how much you train them it’s all down to them if they want to put in the work and that doesn’t always have to be in the office, if they really wanted to succeed they would be putting in the extra work to get the same results as everybody else

what should I do in order to shorten the 3-6 months period during college years without actual job experience So the recruiter can expect an ROI in a shorter time from me?

that is so wrong, juniors never did seniors work wtf... they always helped with productivity cuz they do the repetitive and dull tasks, so they're productive from day 1 at 100%

i think dice rolls can go either way. i feel juniors are sometimes at a lose-lose in situations like this. juniors can be so moldable and you can get exactly what you want out of them!

It’s a strategic error to not hire junior devs while also hiring experienced devs. A proper systems design for DevOps should integrate both juniors and senior devs. A gamble is still taken on senior devs because at the economic cycle improves to a market that favors employees, the senior devs will jump ship first to work at a company that offers total comp. And those senior devs are experienced enough to already know to find those opportunities and are always prepared to do so. The main litmus test of any software company’s operations is to see how its leadership values human capital while also fully understanding the dynamics of industry economic cycles. All too often, the leaders and managers of dev teams that don’t understand this are often the biggest causes and ground zero for very expensive technical debt. When that debt load gets too high, those subpar leaders jump ship and repeat the same behaviors.

I lucked out on my first job in tech - despite having very limited experience and studying chemical engineering, I was chosen over someone with more of a traditional CS background with a little experience

not true, some companies who outsource realized that obedient, naive people who are easy to manipulate and exploit are better than someone who "knows the drill" and has boundaries, so they hire more juniors to exploit their seniors by putting even more pressure on them
