@carsonhyland: People have no idea. If they did, they would be much more understanding and patient when they come to the hospital. #ernurse#ednurse#emergencyroom#healthcare#malenurse
I just watched a documentary about the Erica Murray case. That’s the stuff he’s talking about. If you don’t know google it.

there are approximately 2million occupied homes in the US that don't have running water. I mean let that sink in. it's devastating.

I’m a defense attorney in family court. People are so insulated from understanding what poverty actually looks like in this country. It’s so devastating.

you can add any first responder to that list. the frequent flyers are so draining and so prevalent that we sometimes FORGET regular people exist and when we do face them, it is a breath of fresh air.

The world is so much more sadder than you'd think. There's so much loneliness, despair than we know. It's so important to treat the downtrodden with kindness and respect. Some people are carrying a heavy heavy burden

I’ve been an ICU nurse for 20 years. Within the 1st 5 min of the 1st episode of the Pitt my husband turned to me and said “so you’re really not exaggerating when you tell me things” and I looked at him and said “this is the most realistic medical show I’ve ever seen”

Medical social worker here. You are articulating the health implications for those who have experienced the normalization of traumatic inter generational poverty in their daily lives. poverty and associated coping (substance use, etc.) in late stage capitalism is a default option for so so many. It’s important that we in healthcare keep trying, even if what we can do is nowhere near enough. I am glad you posted this.
