@sstrawberrylemonade: This was a story about interacting with change and consciousness, how you approach the uncomfortablility of yourself and your memories - I think people were expecting a full lore reveal, but to make it accessible to a wider audience, that would’ve never happened! #backrooms #kanepixels #a24 #horrormovie

Backrooms "fans" when the movie doesn’t include a secret government and the iconic dr finkleshits studying entity #25727493 “the butt tickler” not to be confused with entity #25727492 “the ball scratcher” on level #469390

All the entities were the same size as their real world counterparts, except for Pirate Clark. I think that was intentional to show Clark’s inflated sense of self.

stranger things really ruined a lot of people's perception of abstract and unknown things. Why you hated the movie because it leaves a lot of questions unanswered? THAT'S THE BEST PART

Everyone hating on this movie just didn’t listen to what was going on and it was “confusing” and “boring” because it went over their heads. This movie was incredible. I can’t stop thinking about it.

Btw the mri company, Async, actually opened the door to the backrooms and caused the doors in reality to open all around. My theory is that the backrooms never existed until Async opened up the door and it started pulling in memories to create the new reality. Idk tho

it’s a niche movie. I walked out of it knowing i loved it but also knowing most people weren’t going to like it. It isn’t for the “general audience” an that’s ok, not everything should be. I think it’s silly for people to “defend” the movie since in reality, the people who like it like it and the people who don’t won’t be changing their minds any time soon.

it had such good symbolism too. using it as a metaphor for both addiction and declining mental health was soooo brilliant the director did an amazing job

we’re losing media literacy cuz why is it getting hate?? ITS PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR ok keyword PSYCHOLOGICAL ur supposed to analyse it, be left with questions and find out what things may symbolise mental burden as most psychological horror movies do! i feel like ppl r just basing their opinions off their first visual impression. the allegory of looping and how self hatred consumes u alive (iykyk) was so perfect to me and i feel like the ppl that r rating it bad just dont understand the deeper meaning to the movie. it was so good and made perfect sense to me; even for first impression

the average movie goer wants an easy to digest, spoodfed narrative that walks them through every plot point, and they want to dopaminemaxx on a billion jumpscares, so honestly it’s no surprise to me that people don’t “get it” and dislike it. it deviates to much from the norm for the average viewer because they don’t want to have to try to understand their movies

idk about everyone else, but i think it was an amazing introduction to the concept of backrooms for those who don’t know anything about it but people are just so used to shitty jumpscares and generic body horror they just default to oh no bad movie

Probably unrelated sort of to what you’re talking about, THE SET? The set was so incredibly well done, especially scenes that showed domestic areas. I particularly remeber the scene with the bedside tables, where they appeared in several different locations but were the exact same; the human mind is inherently indecisive and bad at remembering things, so the bedside table could’ve been here, or…wait? It could’ve been here too, or here. I just thought it was SO GOOD!!

There just wasn’t a plot. It was a well made movie that had absolutely no plot. “Escaping the backrooms” which was realistically what the movie should have (at least partially) been about, was about 5 minutes of the movie.

People in my theater were asking “what do you think happened?” And that confused me cause while there’s a lot of symbolism and themes, i don’t think any of what we saw was an illusion. Apparently a lot of people think the ending with ASYNC was a still life imagining a better ending, and that her human counterpart had actually died?? I disagree
