The color doesn’t bother me… it’s what’s underneath the shadows

The color of the water is the LAST thing I'd be worrying about if I somehow ended up in the Amazon river.

when I went diving at Ginnie springs several years ago the river was full of tannins but they were not mixing with the spring pools. made for some cool views.

Yes! It is the Rio Negro (Dark River), in Amazon. Its low pH and dark color help prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes and harmful microorganisms. In addition, the water is warm (around 28°C). Totally safe to swim and amazingly beautiful. An additional fun fact: where there are river dolphins, there are no piranhas. Local guides know exactly where it is safe to swim. One of the best experiences of my life

absolutely NOTHING could get me into that water...no matter how good it actually might be. Not being able to see is the water most terrifying thing I can imagine .

In Australia we have these lakes but they are stained by the tree leaves hanging into them, making the river tea basically. It's only a certain type of tree, I forget which one though

In Australia, there is a lake near where i live, its a black lake, stained by the tea tree's around it. Its gorgeous, makes youre hair and skin feel amazing. Tea tree's are natives, its a natural occurring goth lake. Very cool, called Lake Ainsworth.
