I remember I was 17 my birthday was on the Sunday turning 18 and they put me in adults. I was not happy about it because I felt like I was not ready. Someone pulled me aside and told me I shouldn’t be dancing with teen girls because my number was adult category. When I registered I did say teen girls for most for the powwow I was a teen. I was upset and felt embarrassed, but I danced teens anyways because it was my last time I could. I wasn’t there to win but to dance.

I did this the summer I switched from a tiny tot to a junior cuz I was greedy 😂 I got heck and never did it again. But I made $10 that day instead of $5 and thought I was rich haha

When I used to dance I would jump into adults because my parents were always late! Then adults got mad at me eventually I just quit.

When your a teenage dancer n you got the skills that kills n want the songs that adults get n jump up to adults early n the people like it…best feeling in the world knowing you can hang with the best…f them rules if you jump ahead when young…but if it’s golden age different haha

Dancer who just entered adults category. I personally find teen categories very talented no doubt! But age groups were made to be fair and I fully support teens dancing with the adults but when teenagers enter the adults specials and win? With all due respect you’re just making your self look money hungry. YES it’s a great feeling to win in adults category but you are given your OWN category to dance in with good prizes so shouldn’t that be enough. Dancing is all about fun and making good memories. Not making it unfair for others. This is no hate whatsoever but honesty and respect.

They should show IDs now. Every other events ask for IDs when signing in or signing up. Things can be fixed if brought up.

being in the circle for so long you hear this type of thinking alot. and alot of those people stick to traditional powwows and enjoy it. some don't register and just dance at comps. when the money/competition starts being your reason to dance that's when you need to step back because that's how you ruin it for yourself.
