milica :
My mum is on Keytruda for cervical cancer too. She has been on Keytruda alone for 6 months, and we were very surprised to find out that Keytruda is not completely free of side effects.
Every treatment cycle has been different for her. She experienced fatigue almost every time, usually on the first day and sometimes on the second day as well. However, I would say it has gotten better over time. The fatigue she experiences now is much less severe than after her first Keytruda-only treatment.
I don’t know if you’re also receiving Avastin, but that one, holy shit. At the beginning, it caused high blood pressure and a significantly elevated heart rate. She also had chills and headaches. Since her last three treatments, she has been getting diarrhea on the first or second day after treatment. They started infusing Avastin over 60 minutes instead of 30, and everything except the diarrhea went away.
She still occasionally experiences fatigue between treatments. Unfortunately, she did develop colitis from Keytruda, but she was treated with oral and rectal 5-ASA, and it went away. We really hope it stays that way.
I don’t want to scare you, but we were caught off guard when the symptoms started because everyone had told us there were basically no side effects. So I think it’s important to know that side effects can happen, although I truly hope they don’t happen to you.
In my mum’s case, the tiredness is usually worst on the first day and then gradually gets better.
I am praying for you and your family. ❤️
