We make sure our hotel has a microwave. Bring paper bowls and disposable utensils. Breakfast is 2-3 oatmeal packets each. Lunch is usually granola bars, jerky, chicken packets, packed sandwiches. Stuff easily tossed in a backpack and eaten while sitting against a random wall in the convention center. Campbell's chunky soup or instant ramen for dinners, maybe a nice big loaf of bread to dip in the soup. Oh! BRING GATORADE! I usually aim for 4 bottles per person per day, and usually carry 2 per person at a time. Collapsible water bottles are good too, fill up at hydration stations, hydrate, empty any dregs and collapse before setting off again. Maybe $25-30 per person up front to pay for all the meals, maybe $50 or so if you go nicer and pack extra snacks. (yes I'm usually the designated Con Mom, how could you tell?)

To each their own but for me, the food is part of the con experience. I don't normally eat out, and enjoying the food in another city is fun. Also without a microwave, either you have to eat sad cold meals or limit your options to food that's meant to be eaten room temp.

I can recommend packing a bag of sandwich toast and then bringing some things you can add like sauces and cheese (if you have a mini fridge that should be no issue) also protein pre workouts. it's great for giving you enough energy and calories to survive half of the day in a suit

I can survive off a pizza for two days. breakfast get that hotel one and there you go.. Just some snacks from a gas station or grocery store if you're smart to go find out on the way in

my con money saving trick is to be staff. many cons comp rooms which tends to be the biggest expense out of everything. oh and buy water in gallon jugs from the convenience store as I find American tap to taste like a science experiment
