I don’t understand why parents do this and make decisions for other people’s children.

My heart hurts for you, your son and the friend... JJ AND CASEY. You are bringing awareness to others. I applaud you and your son for being held accountable, yet trying to do some good.

I also think it’s extremely important as a parent to teach your kids about alcohol safety, responsible decisions and limits. In Canada at 18 you can legally drink so most grad parties have alcohol!

People might of thought I was crazy but I would tell my daughters “I will pick you up, no questions asked and take you home”. Did I want them to drink, no, but would they possibly yes. My youngest took me up on my offer after homecoming senior year. I kept my word. Kids make mistakes and the world cruel. I’m glad your son could repair his life and speak to others.

Where I live legal age to drink is 18 a lot of our grads are that age when they graduate so we hold a safe grad. It’s a party in a secured building and they have to sign in and sign out with a sober parent or guardian who is registered as the pick up person.

This is why I never condone teenage drinking - I know they do it but I’ll never buy it or allow it in my home underage! Sending you a big hug 🫂

I warn my children all the time that an accident can ruin their life. You don’t have to have ill intentions to have your life ruined by an accident.

This is all too common, I have two teenagers and I told my kids, I will NEVER purchase alcohol for anyone, EVER. Glad he’s moving on in a positive direction to help others.
