This is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. These people think that banks are bad but the US financial system (community banks) are the envy of the world. Without deposits banks can’t lend money. Banks are only a financial intermediary. Banks don’t “take” your money. You make a deposit and the banks provide you a service which allows you to transact and provide consumer protections. Then on the other side, they lend out a percentage of those deposits to their communities. The small business start up, the home that needs a new roof, or the farm that needs a new piece of equipment.
