@misfit_printing: Replying to @Erica today I tried resin 3D printing both hallow and tiny olives for the dirty martini lava lamp but unfortunately they still don’t seem to want to float. But the show must go on and we will figure this out 😅🍸🫒 #lavalamps #resin3dprinting #dirtymartini
hear me out turn the old olives into a sun catcher with a martini glass in the middle. do u see the vision

Hav you been watching the lava lamp girl? She adds stuff to the water to make stuff float better.

To improve the hollow olives, try filling the drainage holes with resin and curing to trap air inside and help them float. Like a tiny olive balloon.

Hear me out (disclaimer this might not work at all). You do a “hollow” olive with an open cylinder where the pimento would go. And then print pimento “end caps” and uv resin them onto the ends of the open cylinder leaving a small gap of air in the middle which should help with the buoyancy.

You need to super concentrate the water, boil it to get more salt dissolved then let it cool and pour it in

I make potions with resin dice. Glycerin helps a lot to change the density of water, and it is clear.

I think if you print them again but cover the drainage holes like people are saying, they're *only* going to float and they won't stay suspended in the water. so, opposite problem. my thought is that you may have to do a weighted pimento and seal the drainage holes so achieve movement up and down through the lamp.

Just checking since it wasn't explicitly said on the video, were the drain holes for hollow olives sealed after you printed them? The air pocket should have provided enough lift (I was really sure I had the math right) 😭🥲

So you made drainage holes so they’re hollow, but did you close them off to trap air inside each? Did I miss that part? If not, I’d close off the air inside for buoyancy ❤️

When you said Hollow was my first thought was like a ball, where the inside space is just air. Maybe make something to block off the holes that way the water from the lava lamp doesn’t get inside,

maybe try making the olives out of silicone? you could make a mold out of the resin olives 🫒

Already commented on the other vid but - Maybe a lava lamp like the one from the original comment, but with a few hollow olives inside too? So the wax (or whatever’s inside) will move the olives around with it?
