Can’t believe I made this from scrap wood left over from our reno. I had a vision for an earthy, organic coffee table and decided to just go for it. I didn’t overthink it, just started building and I’m still a little shocked it turned out this good. Perfectly imperfect, solid wood, and full of character! 🥹🥰 If you want to make something similar, here’s a quick breakdown: 1. Wood: Use spruce or pine. Both are affordable and take stain beautifully. 2. Tabletop: Cut four 2x10s to 51”, glue them together, and clamp until dry. 3. Sanding: Start with 60 grit before distressing to round edges and soften the shape. 4. Distress: Use a chisel and wire brush. Go heavier than you think—it adds life. 5. Legs: Cut four 4x4s to 17”, trim to 2.5” x 2.5”, and attach using a pocket hole jig with screws. 6. Supports: Cut two 2x2s at 38” and two at 21”. Glue and screw between legs for strength. 7. Character: Beat up the legs a bit for that lived-in, aged look. 8. Details: Cut eight 2x2” knobs, peg and glue into screw holes to make it look like the beams run through the legs. 9. Finish: Sand through 80 → 120 → 220 grit. 10. Whitewash: Mix 50/50 paint and water, apply thick, and let dry. 11. Stain: Use Early American—brush on, let sit, then wipe back for depth. 12. Seal: Finish with 4+ coats of matte polyurethane. Check out my “coffee table” highlight for the full process, and save this reel to reference later. #diycoffeetable #diyhomedecor #diyfurniture #diyhomeprojects #diyhome
