It’s more likely this rigid modernist interpretation of the Bible actually came after positivism in science. Instead of seeing them as two different ways of describing truth, they see them as competing truths. But yeah the whole “this is exactly and literally what is happening in the observable universe, and these are the processes involved that we can study and observe” is not what, I think, the Bible was going for.
