We played Survivor. When a kid was getting on everyone’s nerves, the class would vote someone “off the island”. That student would have to go to a much stricter teacher’s room with a note that read “I have been voted off the island”. They are only welcomed back IF someone else gets voted off.

20 year teacher here: when a kid gets rowdy, I leaned close and said, “you got a booger hanging out of your nose.” No kid can ever not react. No matter how mad they were, they will IMMEDIATELY stop to furiously wipe their nose. De-escalates every time

when two kids start acting out together I say loudly enough "according to playground rules you two have a crush on each other" I teach high school. works like a charm.

I’m sure some of these sound cruel to some non-teachers, but most of these are awesome and effective. And usually the kids love it as long as you’re fair and they know you want what’s best for them.

HS teacher here. I tell the kids they’re only allowed to insult each other if it’s “witty.” When two kids get into it, the class votes on if an insult is witty enough and, If not, they get booed. It really stopped a ton of the just plain mean comments. The insults students do throw out now are legitimately funny (often based in whatever we’re reading at the moment) and usually not that serious. So many literary insults! Peer acceptance is everything, and it teaches to think before you talk.

as a mom, if my kid came home and complained about ANY of these my reply would be "would that have happened if you just did what you were told?" And when they said "no" id say "exactly. thats why im in yiur teachers side. do better" 😂

My mom (not a teacher) was always put with the “problematic kids” on field trips because she got them to behave. The “punishment” was literally her holding their hand and introducing them to LITERALLY EVERYONE THEY PASSED as “Her BESTEST friend ever”. Needless to say, kids behaved around her and generally loved her.

The vents in my school would rattle for some reason. My Spanish teacher said it was her dead father protecting her when we were being bad 😂😂 one day we were being loud and not listening and the vents rattled extra loud and longer than usual and stopped on command when she touched it and said “thank you dad, don’t be mad they will be quiet” 😂😂😂 we did not move or make a sound for the rest of the class 😂😂 we’d even shut up when it rattled and it wasn’t her class
