As a Gen Z… who was born in 07, I can also spot the difference between modern Y2K and real Y2K😭 I love the maximize jewelry and actual patterns on clothes and jeans😭 now everything looks so cheap and it don’t even look cute. You gotta get like vintage stuff.

I think ppl get the late 90s mixed up with early 2000s. Cruel intentions movie fashions, for example, is late 90s and blends into the early 2000s. So you had the gaudy and the more sophisticated. I always considered y2k fashions a short fashion sub trend that was futuristic and had a lot of colors and silver and goggles lol.

I’m an older Gen Z(‘98) but I loved and still love how you could tell that the celebrities were picking clothes from their own closets or even if the outfits were custom you could recreate them yourself.
