Isfahan is one of Iran’s greatest cultural and artistic cities. UNESCO officially designated it as a Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art because of its deep tradition in Persian crafts such as carpet weaving, enamelwork, metal engraving, miniature painting, tilework, and wood inlay.
It is famously called “Esfahan Nesf-e Jahan”, meaning “Isfahan is half the world”, because its beauty, architecture, bazaars, bridges, and craftsmanship were once seen as representing half of the world’s wonders.
