Every summer, thousands of horses thunder across the grasslands of Xinjiang in one of China’s most spectacular annual events: the Xinjiang Heavenly Horse Festival🐎🌿 Held in Zhaosu County, the festival celebrates the region’s centuries-old horse culture and its famous Ili horses. But its biggest highlight is the breathtaking “10,000 Horses Galloping” spectacle. Despite the name, the exact number varies each year. Local herders release and guide massive herds of horses across the grasslands, often through shallow rivers, creating the dramatic scenes that regularly go viral online.
