After watching all the parts, the SO's conducted a Legal traffic stop, due to LP light malfunctioning, thats fine! PC to search the vehicle due to scent of MJ perfectly legal. The Officers didn't handle this situation good at all, and should've taken their disabilities into account. That being said, after accommodating their disabilities, they should've gotten out of the vehicle and let them search it, because it was legal and they had every right to. They didn't find any weed, but unfortunately they messed up and had an open container, I'm surprised they weren't given FSTs and no K9 due to the odor of weed? I'm not siding with the officers nor the individuals in the vehicle, but lets be honest both parties could've handled this way way better. If it were me I would've told them they aren't free to go and to stand by so that I can acquire a WC, radio my supervisor, explain in detail and I guarantee it would've gone so much smoother, but unfortunately tempers were high on both ends and the stubbornness of the officers combined with the individuals it was bound to be chaotic. Definitely needs to be some extra training given to that department for stops like this one.
