My theory is that the backrooms is a copy of the world above it, so it starts from here, and goes down, the world below it is an attempted copy. But there are layers, the further down you go, the more distorted it becomes, so maybe Clark found a layer in the middle of all backrooms layers, with a distorted captn Clark, but in a lower layer, the Clark copy is more distorted, and is the bacteria, one of the most distorted copies of Clark
