The student needs to be be escalated, have and then sent home as a consequence then upon return reentry with a plan. The student needs to be taught skills to replace violent behavior while keeping a boundary and consequences when or if needed.

Nah disagree at least in ESN, student should move to a more supported space like a resource room. Sending students home sets a precedent, student starts to think: if I want to go home I can just hit someone and that becomes the go to.

Agree , that would never happen. We had to move the kids outside . And deal with the behavior in the class

Yes and no - deescalate enough to move student to a different location in the building and so they can maintain in that location, then consequence appropriately per the district policies.

WRONG! The kid is initially using violence as an escape; allowing them to leave afterwards enforces their violent behavior. Students who are not violent already know it’s not ok, give them credit man.

This is all just silly :
People forget that this is SCHOOl. Our job is to teach. That’s it! We are not a punching bag. Yes we want to help the whole child BUT violence is NOT apart of that. Once again the “whole child” philosophy has been LOST in translation.

I disagree. Omg you will struggle w students to even try to move them if they are violent. You definitely need to get him deescalated even if he is sent home. It will be worse for parent at home. It’s not helping it’s hurting. How do you think it will look to try and move a student escalated and home.
