Not true it was based very loosely on the Cadbury factory in England where children in local schools got to sample new products for free

In reality, the character of Willy Wonka was created entirely by author Roald Dahl for his 1964 children's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Dahl was not inspired by a murderous Philadelphia factory owner; instead, he drew inspiration from his own childhood schooldays in England, when the famous Cadbury chocolate company would send boxes of new, experimental chocolates to his school for the students to test

Fake News!!! As a schoolboy in the 1920s, Roald Dahl attended Repton School in England, where Cadbury regularly sent students new experimental chocolate bars to taste and rate. The experience sparked Dahl’s imagination, leading him to dream of a secret factory filled with magical candy inventions. At the same time, Cadbury and its rival Rowntree’s were engaged in a fierce “chocolate war,” using spies, private detectives, and strict factory security to protect their secret recipes. This real-life rivalry later inspired the mysterious world of Willy Wonka, including the locked factory and the character of Arthur Slugworth.

This video is fake: Willy Wonka wasn’t based on a real person, and his chocolate factory wasn’t copied from a single real factory either. Roald Dahl drew inspiration from Britain’s famous chocolate manufacturers, especially Cadbury, as well as Rowntree’s and Fry’s.
When Dahl was a schoolboy, Cadbury would sometimes send new chocolate samples to schools for students to taste and review. That experience, along with the fierce competition between chocolate companies and their closely guarded secret recipes, helped inspire the idea of Wonka’s mysterious factory.
The chocolate river, edible gardens, glass elevator, and Oompa-Loompas are all completely fictional. So, while Wonka’s factory has roots in the real British chocolate industry, the magical factory itself came from Roald Dahl’s imagination.
