for the round bottom flask on the heating plate, maybe use a pot and sand to get more of the heat into the flask? or water, but it evaporates eventually. sand would take a long time to heat up but would never evaporate.

You might need a heating mantel that is curved to match the shape of the round bottom flask for better efficiency
