I saw a comment that said “back in the day, they probably said photography wasn’t art because it did all the work for you” and that simply isn’t true. When photography first started, there was no immediate way to see if it even captured what it was meant to - photographers had to develop their photographs in dark rooms, using different chemical mixtures for hours or even days at a time, in order to find out if the photograph was clear or not. Photography was not an “easy” art form when it was invented, and to compare it to AI because it’s easy to do *now* is ignoring the millions of hours and hands that touched the medium. Plus, there is a clear difference between a good photo and a bad photo, and it’s often because of hours of editing done by, you guessed it, people who know what they’re doing.

My dad was trying to convince me to use AI to create the films I want to make. He said that the world is growing and it's growing without me. I'd rather be left behind in a lonely world of wonder and creativity then make a movie thats lifeless and made without collaboration. Film making specifically is all about collaboration between multiple departments to create one beautiful piece of art. It's something I treasure whenever I'm apart of a crew or writing room. The idea I can just write a prompt and something will appear is lazy, theres no thought, tweaking or collaboration with another human to add litle details that makes a film a film. Even as a introvert, I'll rather be in a huge busy film studio then alone in my bedroom writing prompts into a computer.
