@growwithkaela: The last thing you need to feel is misunderstood and ashamed when you’re grieving the loss of your dismissive avoidant. It’s a breakup unlike anything else, so if someone hasn’t been through it, they just won’t get it. Be mindful with who you’re processing your grief with. Your healing is sacred. ❤️🩹
I am a therapist and work with people going through these break ups and I was just saying yesterday, walking away from someone you still love and having to choose yourself is one of the hardest things you will do.

I truly loved him so much. I think that's why healing has taken time. Some people see the ending and think you should just move on, but when you've loved someone deeply, you don't just grieve the person you grieve the future you thought you were building together.

my therapist did the same. or others say "if he wanted to he would. he just didn't love you enough. "
and I truly believe that WAS NOT the case. i know he cared. I felt his angst and fear as he got closer. but many will say "he's just not that into you. "

This is so true. My best gal pal, who has known me since grade school has a hard time being supportive, she just gets mad at his behavior! She trusts me when I tell her how amazingly present he is when he allows it, but she sure doesn’t understand the part of him pulling away and being so casual about me. As you say, unless a person has been through this, there is no way to make them understand. Great post.💙
