When performing Bulgarian split squats, keeping the torso more upright and allowing more knee bend, with the knee traveling past the toes, will place greater emphasis on the quads. On the other hand, leaning the torso slightly forward, keeping the shin more vertical, and hinging back at the hips will shift more of the load to the glutes.
