It only takes this long if you have a bad passport. It usually takes no longer than 15min.

I was in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. Didn’t have to queue at all at passport control, so this isn’t all the time.

because you dont have the right passports I've never taken longer than 15 minutes which was only because it was super busy cuz of flights getting cancelled cuz of bad weather, I live in NL so every time I fly I go via Amsterdam. if I were to go to America I would have the exact same issue, the airports all tell you how far ahead of departure you should arrive and Schiphol is usually on 2.5/3hrs, sometimes you can also already do some stuff online while waiting in line like checking in n stuff

this is temporary because of the new e-visa rules. in Washington DC you wait 3 hours as standard
