I had a sudden cardiac arrest 6 years ago. My husband saved my life before EMT's arrived. I have had my defibrillator save my life a few times. I know it's there and it's doing its job, but mentally I will always be afraid.

Drs are taking icd.. My EF is 30-35% . I already have an artificial aortic valve, but the thought of an ICD absolutely terrifies me. I know having one would wreck my anxiety-is that normal? How do you move past the fear and apprehension and get your brain to settle down over it(can you see the anxiety here).

I been fending mine off for the last 6 months, lol. I will have to get it one day if my heart gets weaker.

I got one after my heart stopped. I woke on the floor. Luckily I was wearing a heart monitor, which registered my pulse went to Zero and stopped for twenty seconds. I now having a pacing pacemaker that keeps my heart above 60 BPM.

I died of cardiac arrest due to pulseless v-tach. Luckily, I listened to my body and called 911 when something didn’t feel right. The EMTs arrived within minutes and took me to the ER, where I went into pulseless v-tach and died. They shocked me back. I now have an ICD. This happened on June 4, 2026 and I am suffering with debilitating PTSD. I am glad I got the ICD, but my life has forever changed and I am scared all the time.
