There is this one girl that I have liked since I was seven years old. For six years now, my feelings for her have never changed. Every year I tell her how I feel, and every year she says no, but we still stay very close friends. We are in a person friendship with another guy friend. Over the last year and the past few months, she and I became even closer. Because of this, the feelings I thought were gone came back even stronger. But there is a big problem. I know my other friend in our trio likes her too. We both like the same girl, but the only difference is he never told her. Two months ago, I really thought I had a chance with her. But then she told me she was dating another guy. Seeing her with this new guy hurts so bad, especially because she looks so happy. It is a bittersweet feeling. I am glad she is happy, but it hurts that I am not the reason for her happiness. Even though she has a boyfriend now, I still like her. Of course, I hide my feelings. I lie and tell her that I don't like her anymore so she doesn't feel awkward or uncomfortable around me. It is so hard to move on from the first girl you ever liked, especially when she is still the only girl you want.
