I wasn’t a bad mom. I wasn’t ungrateful. I didn’t hate motherhood. I was overstimulated and hormonally depleted. The noise. The touching. The constant questions. The never-ending needs. The mental load of raising kids while still trying to hold myself together. And then add changing hormones, poor sleep, anxiety, brain fog, exhaustion and feeling like my body wasn’t cooperating with me anymore… Of course I was overwhelmed. I kept trying to fix my attitude when I actually needed to address what was happening in my body and brain. I started prioritizing my hormones, my gut health, my sleep, my nutrition and the things that helped my body handle stress better. And slowly, I started feeling like me again. I had more patience. More energy. More capacity. More joy. My kids didn’t suddenly become easier. I became better equipped to handle them. And honestly? That realization changed everything.
