@infiniteheartdrmay: Lp(a) is one of the most common inherited cardiovascular risk factors, affecting 1 in 5 people, and most have never been told what to do about it. The good news: we have a real strategy today and transformative therapies on the horizon. Here's exactly what I tell my patients. #LipoproteinA #HeartHealth #PreventiveCardiology #HeartHealthTips #Cholesterol

at 24, I found out my Lp(a) is high. at 175. my family has a history of heart disease, stroke and heart attack, high BP. I was proud to say I don't have high BP, BUT since finding this out I am anxious a little bit.

327nmol/L ☹️I found out through the health panel I ordered from Oura Ring (blood testing at Quest), so my results were just delivered as a little app notification

at 45, I just found out I have high LPa. Before knowing my LPa, the Prevent calculator estimated my risk as very low. Subsequent testing has shown plaque already in several areas. without finding out my LPa, I would never have known to do more testing and found out my cardiovascular health was already compromised.

just got back my 160, I am 43, have a healthy lifestyle, workout, I’m sad. Seeing a cardiologist next week. May God allow me to see my babies grow, medication makes me so nervous, what about their side effects? I don’t want to feel depressed over this but I feel overwhelmed now.

U r brilliant- thank u for ur clear explanation on how to reduce risks of heart attack and stroke- I have a family history of heart disease- I eat heart healthy, I started on statin Zocor early, exercise 150- 200 min a week- I eat no sugar nor red meat , pork etc, do not smoke, maintained same weight since my 20’s- I raised my 2 adult children like this and they both understand the importance of adherence.

There is no need to say "I get this question quite often from x, y and z". Cut out that part. Get to the answer quickly.

What if a 15 year old has it. Pediatrician doesn’t know or treat it. Should she go to cardiologist.

I just recently found out I have a lap of 225 but my ldl is only 106. My pcp doesn’t know much about it. Do you recommend seeing a cardiologist? I don’t want to waste their time but I feel uneasy that my dr doesn’t know much about this

Any advice as a 38yo female with lp(a) and strong family history with my father 68 and brother 36 who passed from this and cardiac. My cardiologist doesnt take my history or markers seriously. They continue to say im young and healthy, wave off my concerns, and refuse appropriate monitoring like annual ultra of my carotid etc.....Idk how to get them to take me seriously

If the LP a and b “should” be tested, considering genetics, why aren’t docs and cardiologists testing on that basis alone? In other words, why should patients have to request the test. I have genetics/history that push me into this category. Then, a heart attack age 57. I’ve had two (2) cardiologists and a NP who have never uttered the letters or words to me. Never. WTF?
