This is an awesome tip, I give lots of IM injections as a primary care RN

Some meds require the outer quadrant like Bicillin for example.

Currently in nursing school and they don't even teach us to give them there anymore. I did however learn it in medic school 10 years ago.

lean on a exam table and take your weight off that side you're doing the injection on

I e done this for 31 yrs. Have the pt use the exam table to support, while they take weight off of one leg. 👍🏻

My husband was given a ventrogluteal IM, I’m a retired RN but I basically used the method you are using. The nurse told me they are not allowed to use any other method than the ventrogluteal.
