My grandmother spent forever taking care of my long hair and never cut it. She used to braid it and comb it carefully because long, healthy hair was a thing to be proud of and I loved it. I was told in church (more than once) that my long hair is distracting and my grandma should have me wear a veil because otherwise it would be my fault that people who got distracted went to hell for not being able to focus on prayers 🫠 I was aroud 8 years old and my hair was in a single braid.
