@thenameiswhatttt: haha well, i made you something to read and to ponder upon while waiting for the next saturday to come, this will surely make me insane though! Disclaimer: This analysis is entirely my personal literary interpretation and theory based on the text's themes and symbolism. I asked myself after watching the first episode: “Why did God create humans that can’t be human?”

I love how you dissect all the symbolism. The eye is indeed judgmental and in no way should represent the unbiased and accepting love of God. Love should be freeing, not suffocating and restrictive. ☺️

“It suggests that the act of climbing this dogmatic ladder requires a person to slowly melt away their own humanity.” and the fact that LOVE is the very thing that makes us human🥺 this is sooo great👏

“Barth might be saving Tanrak from ascending a staircase that will ultimately erase who he is.” This is exactly what I hope for as someone who has not read the books. I see Barth not just as a romantic interest for Tanrak but possibly the first resistance to his faith he’s had. And not someone who is actively trying to force his hand but someone who has the potential to give him the safe space and freedom to discover and be himself. He’s been at that church since he was a young child with the threat of not seeing his parents again as the repercussions for not being steadfast in his faith. Even if not intentional, that fear for a grieving child took away his independence and autonomy. Barth might be what helps bring that autonomy back into his life.

I have this question in my mind when i first watch the episode if you make many good deeds and you will be straight to heaven, but if you make one sin or mistake you will be straight to hell
