This probably isn’t the comment section for it. But i feel like this a lot. I think I have such a shame centered sense of self that i try to chase an aesthetic. I idolise and try to emulate other people who look and act in a way that I think will make me happy. But it’s all fake, and anyone who spends any extended time with me can read right though it. Man I rlly hope I can change

I still remember TWO of my friends were like this; one would only hang out with people that lived in “aesthetic” houses so he could take pictures for ig and when we would hang out no one would ever know bc he didn’t take any, and the other one posted she wishes she would have aesthetic (wtv that means) friends to have cool outings and take pictures. Is that all there is? A pleasant ig feed?

This is so incredibly real, I had a friendship like this and I felt like I could not be myself, I always had to package myself in the way they had assigned me, it was just such a weird feeling. The friendship wasn’t inherently bad just felt so hollow, I didnt really feel like I could fully be myself, and thats exhausting as a human, we’re all multifaceted and nuanced, you should NEVER shrink yourself to be more digestible to others!!! You don’t need or want people like that in your life anyway, so just be yourself.
