A lot of our parents had us while they were broke, invested zero dollars in our future—& told us to figure it out as teens and young adults. Now a lot of us are starting to build in our 30s or later — but that’s why I say — there’s people that *wanted kids & then there’s people that PLANNED for kids. It’s a difference.

My sister is a financial planner. Talked mom into getting life insurance, Medicare supplement to pay for medications, and burial plots. It was a process but saved us all in the end.

My family will not talk investing or anything money but have no problem asking for stuff . What they forget I lived with them from 26-30 and the stuff I saw was unreal . I keep my distance and make sure I’m taking care of .

This is why my max amount of kids I want is 2, the more kids you have the more spread thin you are. I can have a 1M life insurance policy that 500k per child, now the more kids you have the less that gets, I mean it will still be a decent amount but not enough to really change the trajectory. Also the average American can’t afford a 1M policy maybe $250k and like I said the more kids the less they receive. Even 1M not a lot in this day 🥴

My mom made the conscious decision to work off the books at a small business for 35 years. No benefits no life insurance no 401k or pension nothing. Now I’m trying to help her get by when I can barely get by myself. I’d do anything for mom mom I love her but at the same time she made all the wrong choices in life and it feels like I’m the one paying for it and suffering the consequences of it. So it is indeed a burden and holding me back from getting my own life together. It’s hard
