look at it as, the back rooms is your mind/memories. those people were distorted versions of people he remembered. the monsters running around are the monsters that make up his mind, pirate man was his ego. he said It's nice here, he was happy staying in his ego, so there for, pirate man came in and ate him, he was consumed by his ego. that's why she said she can't save everyone, in therapy, she was trying to get him to take part accountability for tye marrage falling apart, but in the end, he wouldn't admit to it. the entire movie is about phycolagy, but they put a horror twist on it to get everyone involved

That’s fax! I felt like the dining room scene represented 2 things. Clark not wanting to change and the monster that ate him being represented as who he was all along. (A drunk void of a man) And the therapist confronting Clark. To me, was a parallel to her trauma she has with her mother and how she couldn’t save Clark like she couldn’t save her mother from mental illness.

I also think when the distorted woman with the red hair started running as monster Clark was pulling up was a representation of how he came home drunk that night he had an argument with his ex wife! You mentioning the monster walking drunk kinda sparked that idea actually lol
