the movie is entirely about consent and having autonomy, nikki refused care the nurse was telling bear she couldn't take care of her without her content, something Bear couldnt do for Nikki.

The nurse was one of the only people who respected “Nikki’s” autonomy. She had no way of knowing that the refusal of treatment was coming from an unreliable narrator. This is actually a common issue in healthcare, we have to meet you (if you are an adult) where you are at as you present for care. I thought that scene was actually a fascinating touch! -A therapist who has to wrestle with this conundrum daily.

Not going to lie, as a psychiatry resident she would have immediately been placed on a hold. She hit herself in the face with a bottle and was in, what I would have suspected to be a manic episode or psychosis. Consent wouldn’t have been a part of this situation unfortunately so I am very confused by this scene. it would have made more sense if they would have just left it out.

This was a hole in the plot I’m a psych nurse if she was brought in after hitting herself in the face with a brick the ed would most likely place her on a hold or the police would and she would be admitted against her will but still a great movie!
