I’ve taken rider safety/competency courses, one in IN and one in CA. Both instruct to keep your bike in 1st gear at a stop, in order to make an emergency getaway/maneuver. Thoughts?

Neutral at a stop is never the move no brake light, and you can’t make a move if something is coming your way.

I like how you point out stay in first until the car behind stops. You don’t want to be caught in neutral trying to get out of the way if the driver was distracted

I moved to Mexico and everyone has a moto here , I was going to jump the gun and get a Yamaha mt03 but I don’t even know how to shift gears or use a moto 😂 I’m whipping a Honda Navi for now
