I talked to my therapist about this and it’s due to the fact we were never played with as children and the mind hasn’t healed those wounds so it becomes almost boring for us to play or imagine because we didn’t have that in the first place .

I can go to park, for walks but sitting and playing with toys..nope.. it is boring and its ok to say it. They are kids, we are adults. Nothing will happen if you do not play with your kid sometimes 😁

As a dad, TV shows like Bluey and stuff create unrealistic expectations on how adults should play with kids. It’s tough.

I think we are stressed out, overstimulated moms who just need a moment to catch our breath at times, not that we don’t want to play with them, we just lack the mental and emotional energy it takes.

because we are adults. we dont have that imagination. the best advice, do things YOU like with them. coloring, painting, baking,... 🥰

Fun fact: mothers/women and children release higher levels of oxytocin, dopamine and endorphins through comfort, care, emotional connection, whereas fathers/men and children release the same hormones through play, joking and “rough and tumble”. It’s a chemical thing. Don’t feel bad about it, it’s perfectly natural 🥰

It’s because of being over stimulated. Allot on our minds. 10 minutes is all it takes. Give it your best go. Then continue on with the juggling 🙏🏻❤️you got this.

Try 15 min intervals of play with them. It means the world to them and it’s their love language. I find it hard also 😕 I wish I didn’t though. I’m not that … fun. My husband, on the other hand, plays with ease.

I am a Adhd mom and this gave me postpartum depression. Sitting on the floor for 10 months was sooo hard for me. I get bored within 2 minutes and only see house tasks that need to be done.

Therapist here! This is very common and nothing to be ashamed of. However, children communicate and connect through play. Joining in their play and letting them lead it enhances parent-child relationships
