Pelvic floor dysfunction is one of the most undertreated conditions in women's health. And the advice most women are given, do more Kegels, wear a pad, just live with it, is not the whole picture. Here are 3 things I teach every woman with pelvic floor dysfunction that have nothing to do with Kegels: ✅ Your symptoms are not just about weakness Most women I see have a pelvic floor stuck in chronic tension, not lacking strength. Years of stress, bracing, and "just in case" peeing have trained the muscles to grip 24/7. Treating the tension matters far more than adding more squeezing on top of it. ✅ The tissues around your pelvis are restricted Years of postural patterns, shallow breathing, holding tension in your jaw, hips, and core have created restrictions in the fascia and connective tissue around your pelvis. These restrictions pull on everything they connect to, contributing to leaking, pain, bowel issues, and discomfort with intimacy. Restoring mobility here is part of the work. ✅ Your nervous system has been bracing for years A nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight holds tension in the pelvic floor around the clock, without you realising it. This isn't in your head. It's measurable, and it's reversible. Calming the nervous system through breath, gentle movement, and pelvic floor release work meaningfully reduces symptoms, sometimes faster than anything else. I can't undo what brought you here.
