@callherholy: One of the most transformative truths a person can believe is that God is kind. Not kind only when life is going well. Kind in every season. Psalm 145:17 says, "The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works." When we truly believe that God's heart toward us is good, it changes how we interpret our circumstances. Instead of asking, "Why is God doing this to me?" we begin to trust that even what we don't understand is being filtered through the hands of a loving Father.
