I tried to adopt from shelters for 8 years before "shopping". I have young children and no fenced yard, other pets, and for about 6 of those years had a man in the home. Some/all of those made me ineligible to adopt. Which is fine, but I shouldn't be shit on for finding an ethical breeder because of it.
