it should not be the servers job to tip out the bartender. don't care how you spin it. that's weird.

This is why you need a zero tip economy and pay your staff a full wage.

Difference is the waiter doesn’t have an option of hiring the bartender or not. Restaurant can choose to hire a band or not. Every worker there is hired by the restaurant and pay should be the responsibility of the restaurant, not the waiter

Please explain why there is a “tip out” the bartender works for the company, not for the servers.

If an employer can’t afford to pay their employees a livable wage they shouldn’t be in business. It should not be a customers responsibility to ensure it

Employees should not have to pay other employees wages. If a business can’t afford to pay their employees they the do not have a statable business without exploiting their employees.

ok... but that's the difference between an employer and employee.... and employer is supposed to be absorbing the risk of owning a business and if they pay a band, and aren't busy is very different than someone coming into work and absorbing the risk of someone not tipping. the point of employment is security. the employer pays them to work, it's not up to customers to pay for an employee on top of paying the employer.

Why should a worker be worrying about the owners company over heads. An Australian bar attendant gets minimum $31 p/h without leave entitlements and $37 p/h for work on a Saturday and $43 for Sunday. And the customer doesn’t tip separately, because the cost of wage is incorporated into the drink price. Our bar staff have great customer service because they are paid a decent wage.

I have worked at places that make tip out based on sales, tables, and seats. it's nuts 🤣 I think businesses should be more willing to ACTUALLY pay their workers for the work they do for THEM. bartenders and servers don't need to pay for the loss of the restaurant, they need to be paid for their work 🥰

how about, put an automatic 10% tip on the bill. thats low enough that customers can still tip more of theyre feeling it, but high enough that your servers AND bartenders never get fully stiffed on a table
