I'd say make it so if you were going parallel with something make it so that you slow down but if you run into it perpendicular you get a really harsh bonk

Be honest…you took inspiration from the Pokemon Short about the mail delivery dragonite😏

you could do something where water is not solid and slows you down like glue, and if you are close parallel with solid stuff bounce off, but more reflect, only loosing a bit of speed.

what about losing control of direction and you "tumble"/skip on the water or walls with the friction slowing you down. like a ball bouncing forward but losing momentum and control instead of a reversal of momentum?

This is so cute I really like the style I've been making low poly stuff too and its very fun :3

good change imo, still good to not touch it but now it’s less frustrating

Great direction to go with this. Reminds me of Mariokart. Could possibly prevent any knock back glitches in the future as well.

probably the opposite of what u wanted but maybe if you were rewarded for keeping an optimal distance away from hazards with a speed boost it might make players reach flow state easier. imo ‘chill’ doesnt always mean easy and figuring out mechanics is insanely rewarding

have it be touching the water prevents the mail from being delivered because it needs to dry off first maybe putting in a timer that goes up the longer you are touching the water

I would have personally added a mechanic that if you collided with something at a wide angle, one that doesn't make sense to bounce exactly backwards you start wall running or surfing the water surface for a moment, then jumping out of that animation at the right time might give you a decent speed boost or something fun like that, I just know that would be a beast of a mechanic to code, but it's the thing that came to mind that sounded the most fun

so if it knocks you back is it additive so if you it water again you will gain more speed and more and more

You could make it a difficulty setting that changes how much (if any) knock back is applied when colliding with a surface.

hear me out, make it so you bounce off the surface (any surface) and gain a very small amount of speed instead, but only if you hit it at the right angle, like a skipping stone.

maybe keep the yet water and add sky islands, or make the yet water aslightly diferent collor idn could be hard tho i have no idea about coding

Oh! idea! how about we can gain an ability later on that can allow us to swim in the water, which will give you a small speed boost? ^^
