Not sure if this helps but I work in restaurant and people eat solo ALL THE TIME. I have never once thought omg they look really silly at all. It is usually that they are travelling for work or finished work and want a quick meal before getting the train home or something. It’s the most normal thing!!

If it helps you, I eat solo all the time when I travel for work, and I genuinely don't think people will think you(or me) are lame. From my experience people are too wrapped up in their own lives to judge strangers too harshly. A Kindle is great to show you are content and thriving being there solo. It's all about your vibe, if you seem confident and content being alone other people just glaze over you. If it helps, imagine next time you're a badass boss babe on a business trip in a cool new city. 🥰

I started eating alone when I was younger because I traveled for work a lot. It gets easy after a few times. I realized no one was paying attention to me. (I wonder if the women outside liked your clothes or your jewelry or just thought you were pretty and that’s why they were filming you? Or maybe they were filming something or someone behind you? I was recording a selfie the other day and didn’t even realize at first that someone was directly in front of me on another bench - I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and I quickly reoriented so they didn’t feel like I was filming them…)

I don’t think it has anything to do with you eating alone. It’s more likely because you’re recording yourself in public and depending on your camera angle, people might think you’re recording them too
